CARD 17 - Executive Branch

The executive branch of the United States government is charged with executing federal laws.

It comprises:

-The Presidency, the White House staff, the Vice President, and the Executive Office of the President
-15 federal departments and their subordinate divisions and agencies
-Hundreds of independent federal agencies
-The independent Federal Reserve System
-Dozens of permanent and ad-hoc boards, commissions, and committees
-A handful of quasi-official agencies


Together, all these components make up the executive branch and act to carry out and enforce federal laws.
